Privacy Policy

Arrivd · Last updated: 9 July 2026

Arrivd helps motorcyclists let a chosen contact know they have arrived safely. This policy explains what information we handle, why, and your rights over it. We have written it to be plain rather than legalistic. If anything is unclear, contact us using the details below.

Who we are: Arrivd is operated by Danny Smith ("Arrivd", "we", "us"), an individual based in the United Kingdom. Contact: privacy@arrivd.co.uk. This policy is governed by UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

The short version

Information we handle

Account information

When you create an account we store an identifier and basic profile information such as your first name, used to personalise the messages your contact receives (for example, "Dan arrived safely").

Location information

Arrivd uses your device location, including in the background, to power its core "hands-free" feature. Specifically:

Because this feature relies on background location, iOS will ask for "Always" permission. You can change or withdraw this at any time in your device settings; hands-free detection will stop working, but you can still start and end rides manually.

Saved places

The places you save (such as Home or Work) are stored as a label and coordinates so the app can detect arrivals and departures. You can delete a saved place at any time.

Contacts you choose

You can pair with a contact who will be notified when you arrive. We store their name and a link to their Arrivd account. We only use these details to deliver the safe-arrival and running-late notifications you have set up. Pairing is done using a short code, and the contact receives notifications through the app.

Notification tokens

To send push notifications we store a push token for your device (and, for a linked contact, theirs). These are provided by the operating system's push service and are used solely to deliver Arrivd notifications.

Why we handle this information (lawful basis)

Under UK GDPR we rely on:

Who we share information with

We do not sell your data. We share it only with service providers that help operate the app, and only as needed:

The person you choose as your contact will, by design, receive notifications telling them you have set off, arrived, or are running late.

International transfers

Some of our providers are based outside the UK. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the providers' standard contractual protections.

How long we keep information

We keep your account, saved places and contacts for as long as your account is active. Ride records are retained while your account is active and are shown in the app for the most recent 30 days. When you delete your account, we remove your associated personal data from our systems.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our use of your personal data, and to data portability. You can delete your account and data directly in the app (Options → account deletion). To exercise any other right, contact us at privacy@arrivd.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Children

Arrivd is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under this age. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will remove it.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including access controls on our database and encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app develops. We will change the "last updated" date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.

This document reflects how Arrivd handles data at the date above. It is provided in good faith but is not legal advice. Given that Arrivd processes background location and shares data with a chosen contact, we recommend a review by a solicitor familiar with UK data protection before public launch.
