Terms of Service

Arrivd · Last updated: 1 August 2026

These terms govern your use of the Arrivd app. By creating an account or using Arrivd, you agree to them. We've written them to be plain rather than legalistic — if anything is unclear, contact us using the details below.

Who we are

Arrivd is operated by Danny Smith ("Arrivd", "we", "us"), an individual based in the United Kingdom, trading as a sole trader (not a limited company). Contact: privacy@arrivd.co.uk. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

What Arrivd does

Arrivd lets you save places, and automatically (or manually) tells a contact you choose when you've set off and when you've arrived. You can act as a "Rider" (the person travelling), a "Contact" (the person being told), or both at once on the same account.

Arrivd is not an emergency or monitoring service. It is not connected to the emergency services, does not detect accidents, injury, or distress, and cannot call for help on your behalf. If you or someone else is in danger, contact the emergency services directly (999 or 112 in the UK). Arrivd only ever tells your contact that you've set off or arrived — nothing more, and never automatically to anyone but the contact you've chosen.

Hands-free detection can fail — please read this

Arrivd's automatic ("hands-free") detection relies on your phone's location services running correctly in the background, on a working data or WiFi connection, and on your phone having power and being switched on. It is not guaranteed to work every time. Detection can be delayed, can fail to trigger, or — much more rarely — can trigger later than expected, because of things outside our control, including but not limited to:

Every account also has a manual option — you can start and end a ride yourself at any time, which does not depend on background detection. If hands-free matters to you for a specific journey, we recommend treating it as a helpful extra rather than a certainty, and using the manual option or a direct message to your contact for anything where reliability is critical.

Your account

You must be at least 13 years old to use Arrivd. You're responsible for keeping your account and device secure, and for the accuracy of the places and contacts you save. One account can act as both a Rider and a Contact, and can be linked to multiple people in either direction.

Pairing with a contact

Pairing is done by sharing a one-time code from within the app — there is no SMS or automated invitation to people who haven't installed Arrivd. A contact only receives notifications once they've installed the app and entered your code. Neither of you can see the other's live location, route, or location history through Arrivd — only the arrival/departure notifications you've each signed up to send and receive.

Acceptable use

Don't use Arrivd to monitor, track, or pressure someone who hasn't knowingly and willingly agreed to be your contact. Pairing requires the other person's active participation (installing the app and entering a code) specifically so it can't be set up covertly. Don't attempt to interfere with, reverse engineer, or abuse the service, or use it in any way that breaks the law.

No charge, for now

Arrivd is currently free to use, with no ads. If that ever changes, we'll update these terms and tell you in the app before any charge applies to your account.

Availability and changes to the service

Arrivd is provided by a solo, independent developer. We aim to keep it running reliably, but can't guarantee uninterrupted availability, and may need to change, suspend, or discontinue features (or the whole service) from time to time. Where reasonably possible, we'll give notice of any change that meaningfully affects how the app works.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Danger zone → Delete forever), which removes your associated personal data as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or end an account that breaches these terms, particularly the acceptable use section above.

Liability

Arrivd is provided "as is." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or harm arising from the app failing to send, or being delayed in sending, a notification, or from any decision made in reliance on Arrivd having (or not having) sent one. This does not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so — for example, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

Given Arrivd's core purpose relates to personal safety, we've tried to be direct rather than hide this in dense legal language: please don't treat Arrivd as a substitute for telling someone your plans directly, for checking in yourself when it matters most, or for contacting emergency services when needed.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app develops. We'll change the "last updated" date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.

This document is provided in good faith but is not legal advice. Given that Arrivd is a safety-related app operated by a sole trader, we recommend a review by a solicitor — alongside the Privacy Policy — before wide public launch.
